It's a relatively insignificant item (simply I similar to comprehend all the bases), merely are there any benefits in which direction an Austin home faces?

We asked our Realtor and she said that we just didn't want an Due east facing house, considering then the afternoon sunday fills your backyard and makes things very hot dorsum there.

If y'all believe in Fengshui, y'all should have a house facing south. By this direction, either front or back won't hit directly by sun.

I just bought a home and insisted in only viewing homes where the back one thousand and the main living parts of the habitation were facing S. This allows sun in the back yard/garden/pool expanse for the entire twelvemonth, despite the season or the angle of the sun. Additionally, it keeps the main living area of the dwelling house well lit. It does hateful you may need to proceed the A/C on a lower setting in gild to stay cool in the rooms that get a lot of sun. I have solar tint on my windows besides equally good shades which I proceed downwardly during the hottest parts of the solar day. I would be totally depressed if the chief rooms in my habitation faced NORTHERLY. Additionally, having just moved from South Florida, I notice the southerly exposures are the all-time for planting.

Northward is best for passive solar reasons. But there are lots of opinions. Another viewpoint is to face whatever management presents the fairest conditions orientation. In other words, if the worst storms and winds come from the N, effort to face south.

I never take had a buyer reject or be more than interested in a home because of the compass orientation though. Not one time. I'm building a new home that faces Due east, which I don't similar, but it'southward not plenty of an result to have caused me to pass upward the lot. The quality of windows and insulation bachelor today reduce a lot of the late afternood estrus issues. Plus we take trees for shade.

When I built my firm I specifically chose a lot that faced east to west. My reasons were:

1.My bedroom is in the westward of the house, and so I don't have to worry about sleeping in with the sun coming upward.

two.My house is on a 11ft slab with a un-obstructive view of the w. I built A deck on the back (west) of my house to have reward of that.

iii.If I wanted to work in the garage later in the twenty-four hour period, the lord's day is on the other side of the firm, so it'southward non so hot.

Interesting question. Past "facing" do you mean which way the front door faces? Or, which direction the majority of the living areas or the places you spend the most fourth dimension are facing?

In Seattle, y'all nigh definitely want windows to your living areas, or the majority of your house facing southward/southwest. The object being to maximize the amount of calorie-free you become, yr round. In Texas, I would retrieve that type of orientation would exist too hot, so a house with windows/living areas facing north/northeast would be more than desirable. But that's not what I'thousand reading here.

Austin-Steve, I saw a house in the Seattle area I would have rejected based on orientation. It was a business firm a friend of mine was considering buying, every bit information technology was on acreage and that is what they were interested in. Just, the unabridged house was oriented to the north. The living room, the dining surface area, the kitchen, the bedrooms. In fact, the due south side of the house didn't take Whatsoever windows at all. What the fuh? Why would someone build a house similar that in Washington?!? I plant it unbelievable.

our front door faces west but our living infinite faces east and the kitchen faces south--we accept 2 big pecan trees and a hackberry there which give some shade from afternoon sun--our lawn gets sun in morning merely past iv-5 it is starting to get shade and we can spend time in the evening/night outside when there is light and exist in full shade--that is prissy---if nosotros had a pool we might not like it then well--simply nosotros don't---and as hot as information technology gets in the summer and stays at nighttime, I think the pool would stay warm plenty to swin in w/o problem until middle of septemeber or after...---might not warm up as well in spring however...
putting solar collectors on roof would be difficult considering South roof line is pretty well shaded and front end faces w/street view and then HOA would probably veto them from the "look"
it is nice to accept the garage on west side to me because that blocks off heat/sunday from house space and yous don't have to accept windows on that wall...

We bought our business firm in November several years ago. The front has a NE orientation, and the dorsum faces SW. When we saw the house the kickoff time, my hubby sabbatum down on the huge deck and said, "you can await at the remainder if yous want, I found where I want to be."

Nosotros rapidly learned that we tin barely use that wonderful deck. It gets full sun and oestrus in the afternoon (there are no well-positioned trees to offer shade) and makes is pretty unbearable for several hours a day, in summit outdoor entertaining flavour. The good news is, we don't have mosquitos---they don't similar it back there either!!!

Farther, we have to have heavy shades on all the windows across the dorsum of the house to control the excessive afternoon light--merely that makes it so dark in the forenoon that nosotros take to plow lamps on to encounter.

The neighbors across the street, who have the oppposite orientation, tin enjoy their backyard much better than we do, but they accept to fight the mosquitos constantly. (Of form, the fact that they have a pool doesn't help that.)

When I lived in Michigan many year ago, I rejected deal on a very prissy business firm just bcause the main living areas and back yard face directly to w. Instead I bought a firm with back m facing east. In the summer time, while I stayed on my deck enjoying the absurd cakewalk in the late afternoon, no one from my backyead neighbors was on their beautiful deck. That was in Michigan. I cann't imagine how hot information technology can go far Texas if information technology faces directly to the westward.
