All aboard! The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad offers the annual Polar Express™ Train Ride to passengers of all ages. For the little ones, it's a wonderful time to visit with Old Saint Nick himself. For everyone else, it's a unique opportunity to feel like a kid again. During the excursion, there will be a reading of the famous Polar Express story, along with Christmas carols and warm cocoa. The opportunity to take a self-guided history tour of Bryson City while also observing the festive Christmas decorations is a must. The Swain County Heritage and Visitors Center is a great place to start. Inside, you'll find a guide to the historic landmarks around town as well as some helpful local recommendations. 5. Don't forget to check out the 50-foot Christmas tree!
Just across the street from the Visitors Center, you'll find a dazzling 50-foot Christmas tree. The lighting ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 30th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m and includes caroling and other fun festivities. Don't forget to bundle up!
6. Take part in the annual Bryson Christmas Parade.
On Saturday, December 7th, prepare for what can only be described as "The Biggest Little Christmas Parade in the Smokies." This beloved annual event features floats, firetrucks, live music, and Kris Kringle himself. This weekend also features a Breakfast with Santa, the Annual Cookie Walk, and a Christmas Bazaar.
7. Venture to Indian Creek Falls.
Located in the Deep Creek Recreation Area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Indian Creek Falls is located along a trail that showcases two other waterfalls.
